Join the 4th Annual Wear Star Wars Share Star Wars Day!

November is out, and December is in.

That said, what will you be doing on Friday, December 13? Please join Star Wars fans in celebrating the 4th annual “Wear Star Wars Share Star Wars” Day (WSWSSW). It’s a day when we proudly wear our love for Star Wars, support geek pride and stand up to bullying.

Stop Bullying, Speak Up

WSWSSW came about in November 2010 when the daughter of multiple-award winning author Carrie Goldman was bullied in school because of her love for Star Wars. As a female fan myself, I want nothing more than to support children and their love for Star Wars (and other fandoms) and to stop bullying in its tracks.

To participate, here’s what you have to do on Friday, December 13:

  1. Wear something Star Wars or science fiction-related.
  2. Donate a Star Wars or science fiction toy to a child in need (but please put a post-it note on the new, unwrapped toy specifying that it can go to a girl or a boy; otherwise, these traditional “boy toys” will be given only to boys). You can bring the toy to a hospital, a shelter, or drop it off with any charitable organization collecting toys.

Also, please join the WSWSSW event on Facebook and contribute to the ongoing conversation about Star Wars, science fiction and standing up against bullying. If you’re on Twitter, use hashtag #WSWSSW2013 and share you experience!
