Joel Aron’s Portraits of Crews from Lucasfilm Animation

Ahsoka Tano from Star Wars: The Clone Wars

With all the rumors flying about, I think the one about the Lucasfilm layoffs was the one that hurt me the most. The crew that worked so hard to bring us something fresh and new from the Star Wars universe have been gradually laid off, which makes the end of Star Wars: The Clone Wars even more bitter and heartbreaking.

Visual effects supervisor and artist, Joel Aron, recently captured over 140 photographs of the crews behind Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Detours at Big Rock Ranch, headquarters of the animation division.

Over the last few days of the week, I setup a single light in my office and turned two black design boards around for a backdrop. My plan was to capture everyone I could in the building from every team. Nearly all of them were in their final hours of working for Lucasfilm. I wanted to remember all of them, and give them all something that has us all in the same place forever.

You can find the set of photographs here, and if I may suggest, please view it as a slideshow to get the most out of it–and I dare you not to cry because I certainly did.
