Star Wars: A New Dawn, Brazilian Cover

When the Disney Store came out with their first waves of Star Wars merchandise, fans made note of the fact that Princess Leia was nowhere to be found. Several articles had been written about it and the #WheresLeia hashtag started gaining more speed. Just recently, I found a Princess Leia costume with the wig available in the Star Wars section of the Disney Store in Times Square, New York City. If you’re in the area and have a young girl looking to dress up as Leia, please purchase this item. You can also find it online in the Disney Store. It’s important to show that girls are interested and that we are a strong buying force in the community. If you’re a blogger, please spread the word. It’s important to put this item on the map and show the rest of the community that Disney is paying attention.

Lucasfilm publicist Tracy Cannobbio shared some great news for UK fans via Twitter, “For all the fans asking…we are happy to confirm that the Star Wars Rebels Season 1 box set WILL be available on Blu-ray in the UK!”

The update came after the official announcement that the Star Wars Rebels season one set will be released on September 1, 2015, in the United States.

One of the main things I noticed when the schedule for this year’s San Diego Comic-Con was first released was the lack of a Star Wars Rebels panel. Given how the team recently finished recording ensemble voice work for the second season, they’re probably pushing forward with the animation and visual part of the series. Here’s hoping there’s a stronger Star Wars Rebels presence at New York Comic Con 2015 later in October!

As a result of not being present at the big convention, Dave Filoni shared a drawing of Ahsoka Tano through social media during the first full day of SDCC, stating, “Wish I could be at Comic-Con this weekend, but Ahsoka and I are on a mission up at Skywalker Ranch. Best of luck Kathy, JJ, and The Force Awakens Team!!!”

Illustrator Annie Stoll took to Twitter and her other social media channels and celebrated the fact that we will, in fact, be getting a 6-inch Black Series figure for Sabine Wren. Stoll is the illustrator of the Sabine My Rebel Sketchbook. The fan voting competition had Revan leading the poll with Sabine in second place. Make sure to follow her on Twitter and Tumblr.

Jon Farmer cosplayed as old Captain Rex from Star Wars Rebels at San Diego Comic-Con, and along the way, he found a Gregor cosplayer. Follow Jon on Twitter.

Old Captain Rex will also be getting a 3.75-inch figure from Hasbro! The concept art was first revealed by and Star Wars Underworld took a picture of it at the convention.

Also revealed at San Diego Comic-Con: 3.75-inch Season Two Male Inquisitor, 6-inch Kanan Jarrus, and 6-inch Ahsoka Tano. Find a picture of Ashley holding her Ahsoka figure over at her Instagram, and find more hi-res images at The Toyark. (Many thanks to Jeremy Konrad for capturing photos at the Hasbro panel.)

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

The Lucasfilm panel in Hall H on Friday, July 10, included some fabulous surprises, including a special behind-the-scenes look of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. For those who missed out on the panel, make sure to watch the Movieguide or the Flicks And The City recording, or read through the official live blog.

Star Wars fans at San Diego Comic-Con 2015 were also rewarded with a special concert following the Lucasfilm panel. Presented by Verizon, the concert ended with a spectacular surprise. Watch the video below for the highlights.

In celebration of the behind-the-scenes content, illustrator Annie Stoll also drew art inspired by Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Comics and Books

The Brazilian version of Star Wars: A New Dawn will have a new cover soon. Creative studio Two Dots worked with publishing company Editora Aleph to create a brand new look for the novel.

While we worked on [the] Star Wars Crucible book cover, Editora Aleph team really liked a second concept sketch we’ve created for the project. They asked us if we can adapt it for the book Star Wars: A New Dawn (from John Jackson Miller), to see if Disney would allow them to change the original cover by the one made by us. Disney liked the sketch and approved the change. And here we are! A massive thank you to Editora Aleph team for the confidence that you have placed in our team.

Del Rey announced that Janine Spendlove will be writing the tie-in story for Star Wars: Battlefront: Twilight Company for Star Wars Insider #161, which will go on sale October 20.

Kanan: The Last Padawan issue #5 will be delayed by one week. Its originally date was August 12 and it will now be released on August 19. Greg Weisman will be staying through at least until issue #11. Pepe Larraz will be taking issue #6 off, with Jacopo Camagni temporarily filling in, but Larraz will be back for issue #7. When asked whether issue #6 would be a one-shot or the beginning of a new story arc, Weisman wrote, “[It’s the] Epilogue to Last Padawan or Prologue to First Blood (issues 7-11) or both.”

Pepe Larraz later added, “For the record, I’m staying on Kanan for a new arc. (I don’t know if you are as much excited as I am because of it but I’m VERY excited).”

  1. I really love the new cover art for A New Dawn! I need to get reading that book!

I’ve seen the Ahsoka Pop before and absolutely love it, but the Kana Pop I hadn’t seen yet! I really hope Funko does a Rebels line of Pops! I asked them recently about TCW, Rebels, or TFA Pops. They said on September 4th, TFA Pops will be announced! I’m hoping for a BB-8 :)

I visited the Etsy shop with those Star Wars clutches and bags. They all look so professionally made!

    • I am so desperate to get that Braizilian cover of A NEW DAWN that I ordered it straight from Brazil. Who knows when I’ll get it–if it even leaves the country. Brazil is super tight when it comes to their shopping sites. Here’s hoping!
