While Bloomingdale’s gets ready to display the “Force 4 Fashion” collection at the Third Avenue flagship store in New York City next month, 10 London-based fashion designers have also unveiled a special collection inspired by Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
The fashion designers recruited for this initiative include Agi & Sam, Bobby Abley, Claire Barrow, Christopher Raeburn, J.W. Anderson, Nasir Mazhar, Peter Pilotto, Phoebe English, Preen, and Thomas Tait. Each designer created a unisex sweatshirt and t-shirt inspired by elements of the Star Wars universe and upcoming film. The collection, as seen below, is being sold exclusively at Selfridges in London.
“I love everything relating to the original Star Wars,” said Justin Thornton, co-designer of Preen by Thornton Bregazzi. “So much so that it influences everything we design, but it wasn’t until our autumn/winter 2014 collection that it was so evident, with Darth Vader’s mask seen as large graphic prints throughout. When we were approached to collaborate with Star Wars again for the new film, we were inspired by the light and the dark within the force. Our graphic prints are inspired directly from the vision of lightsabers and we incorporated a Jedi feel in the silhouette, with bold kimono-style sleeves and a multi-layer wrapped neckline.”
The designers also created catwalk outfits that will be showcased and auctioned off at the Star Wars: Fashion Finds The Force event on November 26 in London as well as online at Star Wars Fashion. The proceeds will go to the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, on behalf of Star Wars: Force for Change. The looks were illustrated by London-based illustrator Richard Kilroy.
