The Fans Awaken to Come Together to Create a ‘Star Wars’ Fanzine

When people share the same interest, amazing things can happen! Take this group of artists, for example. Bri McNamara, Barbara Perez Marquez, Sarah Simes, Annie Stoll, Sara Talmadge, Charles Tan, Mary Verhoeven, and Noella Whitney love Star Wars, so they gathered together to create and compile art for a bound and full color fanzine based on the galaxy far, far away.

The whole idea came about a few days after Star Wars: The Force Awakens landed in theaters in late December 2015, and since then, 50 contributors have been working on art featuring some of our favorite characters–both old and new.

“Everything in #swarsfanzine is SO good. Everyone went above and beyond!” tweeted Marquez, who is spearheading the project. She also recently announced that pre-orders are now being accepted, taking the project one step closer to being fully realized.

What makes this fanzine even more awesome? While pre-orders make printing and shipping possible, the remaining portion of the proceeds will be donated to Force For Change, a charitable initiative from Disney and Lucasfilm dedicated to changing the lives of children around the world.

Pre-orders will only be available until May 20, 2016, so head on over to Storenvy to grab a copy. Make sure to follow the Star Wars Fanzine Tumblr blog to keep up-to-date with contributor art and sneak peeks. Also, if you’re looking to participate in future projects, they’re currently building a list with artists interested in such opportunities, so contact them via Tumblr or email for any questions.

Lastly, scroll through the #SWarsFanzine hashtag on Twitter and Tumblr to find a few sneak peeks and previews of what’s to come, like the ones seen below:
