Sabine Goes Undercover in “The Antilles Extraction”

In this week’s all-new episode of Star Wars Rebels, Sabine goes undercover as a cadet in the Empire’s elite flight academy to help break out several young pilots wanting to defect to the rebellion. Written by Gary Whitta, this episode features familiar faces, like Wedge Antilles (voiced by Nathan Kress).

I am a big fan of undercover missions, and thinking back to “Breaking Ranks” in season one, where both Ezra and Chopper had gone undercover at Lothal’s Imperial Academy, that episode turned out to be one of my favorites. It’s great to see Sabine go on this type of mission this time, especially since she is quite familiar with the routine, having been an Imperial cadet herself years before.

This episode also features the return of Fulcrum. We know Fulcrum was a role played by Ahsoka Tano, but with her out of the picture, who now has taken up that responsibility? Or has that identity fallen on several people in order to make up for such a major loss? A good portion of the fan community believes the new Fulcrum is Agent Kallus. Given what happened to him and Zeb last season, he started to question the Empire and its actions. We recently saw it in the season three premiere, when he brought up the point that there were more civilian casualties than those of the insurgents that they had been after.

Many others range between Leia, Cassian Andor, and other characters who would naturally fit that role. We’ll find out sooner or later, I’m sure!

“The Antilles Extraction” will premiere on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at 8:30pm EST on Disney XD.
