Geeky Bubble: Rebels Chat – Trials of the Darksaber

In their recap of “Trials of the Darksaber,” Johnamarie and Maria discuss the incorporation of 2D animation, Sabine’s character and the way she views the Ghost crew as her family, Ezra’s humorous nature and the way he copes with serious situations, Kanan’s teaching methods and Hera’s role during Sabine’s training, the Bendu’s brief appearance and what it means, and Sabine’s emotional reveal.

IMPORTANT NOTE: In this episode, the topic of religion popped up during our listener questions portion. We would like to express our apologies if we offended anyone who regularly listens to the show and who practices the faith/religion that was mentioned during that portion of the podcast. We were relaying some personal experiences without presenting some positive ones. That is my mistake. Again, we did not mean to offend. We were merely talking about real-world experiences that were similar to that of Sabine’s experience. 2. Hey Johna, pleased to meet you Ma,

Rebels will hopefully run for a few years longer, but I’ve been wondering, what’s next? We heard that Dave Filoni is now in charge of all star wars animation. So what are your thoughts about a new one? Are you hoping for something specific? Could Ezra be the bridger,.. I mean the bridge to the new show?
I for one could see a series about the new Jedi Academy, or something leading up to it. Luke could play a big role in it or at least show up from time to time. I’m wondering if Mark Hamill would be a good voice-actor ;-)

I can’t wait for Rebels to come back and I’m equally exited to hear the next Rebels Chat episode. Thanks for all the positivity, the thoughtful insights and all the fun I had listening.

Best regards and greetings from Vienna

    • Hey, Florian! So great to hear back from you! I would really love to have Rebels for years to come, but I honestly only see it going one more season. And you’re right, Dave is charge of Star Wars animation, so there is another show in the works, I bet. I can imagine it taking place during the span of time between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. And that’s such a genius idea, Ezra being the “bridge” to that show. I’ve always seen him as the bridge between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, but having him also be the bridge for this next series would be really cool! Mark Hamill has done lots of voice work, so he’ll definitely fit into that role really well. Looking forward to recording the next Rebels Chat! Thanks so much for leaving such a wonderful comment. ^_^

      • hey Johna :-)

Too bad I can’t post comments through my Podcast app, but I’m always listening. I’ll try to comment here more often :-) After all, It’s always nice to get comments. I know that first hand from my YouTube videos.
Oh that’s right, Mark Hamill had some small parts in Adventure Time. Just Joking (get it? Like in the Joker,… oh I’m so bad at this), I know he did a lot of voice acting over the years. He could even voice the good and the bad guy at the same time in the new Star Wars series, now that would be funny ^^
Speaking of bad guy, I keep thinking about Mr. Maul lately. We saw in the trailer that he will meet Ben (yes I call him Ben, he is my bro), but I’m not so sure that he will die or that they even fight. Maybe Maul doesn’t want revange after all. Would be a nice twist. That said, I wouldn’t mind if his story ended now ;-)

        Have a nice week
