Toy Fair 2017: New ‘Freemaker Adventures’ LEGO Sets

The Freemaker family is back with upgraded looks and ships! New and exciting LEGO sets for the Disney XD animated series LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures have been revealed at this year’s Toy Fair in New York City, giving many fans hope that a second season is on the way and that an official announcement will be made at Star Wars Celebration Orlando in April.

The first set is The Arrowhead at 775 pieces. It comes with Zander, Kordi, and Roger as well as a familiar face: Quarrie. Quarrie, whose name was inspired by artist Ralph McQuarrie, is a Mon Calamari character who first appeared in the Star Wars Rebels episode “Wings of the Master.” He built a prototype B-wing starfighter on the planet Shantipole, and Hera Syndulla was the first one to successfully fly it and use it against an Imperial blockade. At the end of the episode, Quarrie left to oversee the production of more B-wings for the Rebel cause. It’s great to see that character again at a later point in the Star Wars timeline, since The Freemaker Adventures takes place between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

Zander and Kordi are also sporting new clothes! Instead of his blue jumpsuit (or blue vest/pants) and yellow shirt, Zander now wears a beige vest and shirt. Kordi also ditched her green jacket from season one and swapped it for a similarly colored vest and long-sleeve shirt and green pants. Both of them wear the Freemaker wrench logo on their vests. The two siblings as well as Roger also have blasters/grappling lines, something that wasn’t present in the first season. It makes sense for them to have weapons to defend themselves, however, especially if they joined the Rebellion.

I’m really loving the new looks for the characters, and as for the ship itself, I’m always in awe of the various ship designs that the Star Wars concept artists are able to dream up and bring to life, and The Arrowhead is no exception.

The second set is the Tracker I at 557 pieces. Unlike the StarScavenger set from season one, which had all of the Freemakers together, this set carries Rowan, Emperor Palpatine, a Hunter Droid, and a Probe Droid.

Rowan also has a change in attire going from a yellow jacket and green pants to a sand-colored jacket and beige pants. Also, Rowan has a blue lightsaber! I can’t recall exactly, but it might be the blue lightsaber that once belonged to Naare. I also love that the Emperor comes with lightning bolts because what goes through my mind is him saying, “Zappity zappity!” The Hunter Droid design caught my attention because my first thought was an Inquisitor, especially with the two red lightsabers. That’s an interesting combination, so I can’t wait to learn more about that. I also assume the Droid works for Palpatine, and since Rowan was the last person to hold the Kyber Saber, the Emperor must still have the desire to own it for himself.

As for the ship itself, many thanks to @PalpatinesRoyal for pointing out that it looks very similar to a TIE Phantom starfighter from Legends.

Both sets have a release date of June 1, 2017, and range between $60 and $80. Can’t wait to get them and talk more about the sets in detail on a future episode of Star Scavengers later this summer!
