Thrawn’s Hunt for Fulcrum Continues in “Through Imperial Eyes”

With Thrawn determined to uncover the traitor in their midst, things are not looking so good for Agent Kallus, codename Fulcrum. Ever since he crash landed on an icy moon with Zeb, where his eyes were opened to the harsh truth regarding the Empire, Kallus started righting his wrongs from the inside, feeding information to the Rebellion and helping them when they were in tight situations. Now, with Thrawn on his tracks, it looks like he’ll be the one needing the assistance.

Fearing that his identity will be discovered by the Empire, the Rebels launch a plan to rescue the spy before he is caught. The one question on everyone’s mind: Will Agent Kallus make it out alive?

In the Rebels Recon episode of “Legacy of Mandalore,” we got a brief look at the life of an Imperial through the eyes of Agent Kallus. He also looked exhausted and emotionally drained. After all, he’s constantly making sure that what he does for the Rebellion doesn’t get picked up by the Empire. In all honesty, that would drive any man to the ground.

The recent clip gave us a taste of what’s to come, including Thrawn’s physical training sessions and the Star Wars Rebels debut of Colonel Yularen. Many of us remember him better as an admiral in the Republic’s service during the Clone War, having served beside General Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano, and Captain Rex. He ultimately died in the destruction of the Death Star in A New Hope, which once again, reminds you that a lot of good people continued to work under the Empire, fully believing that they were doing the right thing.

Needless to say, the fans in the community who’ve come to appreciate Kallus and his journey are dreading what many believe will be the end of his character. Kallus is on very thin ice, surrounded by the enemy, so part of you wants to believe that he’ll make it out alive, but the reasonable part of you knows that the likelihood of him surviving are slim to none.

I do like the fact that the Rebels wouldn’t abandon him in his hour of need. As seen in a promotional tweet, it looks like Ezra is part of the rescue, but it also looks like he’s the one who’ll need rescuing. This would inevitably force Kallus to reveal his true colors. It is interesting, however, that Lieutenant Lyste was pulled in for this episode. TWG’s Elisa Ardell suspects that he could be framed. Others believe that Yularen might help, allowing Kallus the opportunity to escape, but we’ll have to wait and see.
