Two Old Rivals Come Face to Face in “Twin Suns”

This is it. The moment I’ve been waiting to see ever since we got a glimpse of it in the midseason three trailer that premiered earlier this year…

Ezra in his pajamas!

That’s right. Ezra wakes up in the middle of the night to find Kanan’s holocron active and replaying Obi-Wan’s message to the surviving Jedi. Reacting to a vision of Maul, Ezra goes against Hera and Kanan’s wishes, and instead, travels to a remote Outer Rim planet, Tatooine, in hopes of stopping Maul from carrying out his nefarious plans.

Maul is determined to do one thing and that’s to eliminate the source of his misfortune, the person who brought him down from power: Obi-Wan Kenobi. Hate and anger has fueled him and kept him alive all these years, but is this finally where his story comes to an end?

Star Wars: The Clone Wars did an amazing job in bringing Maul back and continuing his story into Star Wars Rebels. He is a wicked creature who has manipulated and murdered others for his own gain, not realizing that his goal and desire is completely out of his reach. Is he able to survive yet again and change his priorities? Personally, I want to think this is the end of the road for him, especially after what he did to Duchess Satine, Kanan, and countless others. Many others believe that he’ll make it out alive. I can also see that happening, especially since I imagine Kanan and Ezra would need some kind of a Force sensitive opponent in season four.

While everyone else is more interested in the Maul vs. Obi-Wan aspect, though, I’m actually more excited to find out what Ezra’s involvement will be like in this episode. Will he interact with Obi-Wan? Will he find out the truth about the key to destroying the Sith? Will he brush past Luke or a familiar character and not even know it? Regardless, I’m sure this will be an unforgettable episode.

  1. I think, with Ezra’s involvement, we’ll get to see how Obi-Wan gets involved in the rebellion, and how high-ranking rebel figures like Princess Leia will know him. We don’t know for sure if Leia actually met Obi-Wan or not, but introducing him to the rebellion has to start somewhere!

    • Hey, Ann Marie! So I know I’m several days late, but I really liked your idea here. What did you think of the episode and how the parts of Obi-Wan turned out?
