Loungefly, a leading accessories company that will be located at Booth 2913, is bringing a Star Wars exclusive to San Diego Comic-Con 2017.
Last year, we saw the faux leather Rey backpack (which is still available at ThinkGeek), and this year, they are going to bring a limited edition 40th anniversary denim patch backpack.
Priced at $80.00, the backpack is limited to 400 pieces.
Along with the exclusives announcement, Loungefly also mentioned that they are now officially part of the Funko family. Funko, known for their popular vinyl figures, announced the acquisition back in May.
According to Brian Mariotti, the CEO of Funko, he said, “We have long admired Loungefly and the company’s unique and differentiated collection of accessories and are excited to welcome them to the Funko family. As we continue to extend our business into new and existing categories, this transaction provides us with key capabilities in the accessory and handbag category. We see tremendous opportunities to combine their creative design process with our speed-to-market capabilities, expanded distribution channels, and broad license portfolio to deliver accessories to our loyal fans featuring their favorite pop culture icons and characters.”
Trevor Schultz, the founder of Loungefly, also said, “As a leader in pop culture consumer products, Funko is the ideal partner for Loungefly’s portfolio of licensed and branded lifestyle accessories. We look forward to working with the innovative Funko team to extend our unique product offering into new channels of distribution and licenses.”
It’s an exciting time for both Loungefly and Funko, but with any acquisition, there’s always a concern from the consumers regarding any changes that might come along the way.
