Earlier this summer, Disney and Lucasfilm debuted Star Wars Forces of Destiny, a new initiative that celebrates heroic moments—no matter how small—in the adventures of iconic female characters.
Disney and Lucasfilm also collaborated with Hasbro to create a dynamic and robust line of action figures known as “Adventure Figures” and role-play products inspired by the Forces of Destiny animated micro-series.
To celebrate the launch that kicked off earlier this month, Hasbro sent TWG an Adventure Pack featuring three of Hasbro’s 11-inch action figures. The hope is that we become inspired to recreate favorite heroic moments, and at the same time, inspire you to do the same.
Let’s take a closer look at what was included in our Adventure Pack:
Forces of Destiny Rey of Jakku
Rey is brave, true to her friends, and stands up for what she believes in! Imagine epic adventures to discover her destiny and her connection to the Force with this Star Wars Forces of Destiny Rey of Jakku adventure figure.
The Rey of Jakku poseable figure features rooted hair that’s been fashioned to look like Rey’s famous triple hair buns. She also comes with a draped top, shirt, belt with scavenger bag, shoes, arm wraps, bracelet, and backpack, as seen in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
The figure also comes with a mechanism in place so that when you attach her staff to her hand and squeeze her legs together, her staff swings to strike down her opponents. With the power of imagination, you’re able to re-create the battles Rey finds herself in throughout her journey and continue her story.
What I love most about this figure (as well as the other Forces of Destiny products) is the level of detail, from her iconic hairstyle right down to the Po-Zu boots she wears in the movie.
Forces of Destiny Princess Leia Organa and R2-D2
Princess Leia is a bold leader, and R2-D2 is a faithful, ever-helpful droid. Together, they can beat any obstacle! Imagine epic adventures as Leia and R2-D2 face down the Empire at every turn, becoming two of the greatest heroes of the Rebellion.
The Princess Leia figure features her stunning crown braid from The Empire Strikes Back as well as a removable vest (that truly captures the padded, diamond-shaped quilting from the film), boots, and blaster. This pack also brings R2-D2, whose legs are able to move around.
As we all know, Princess Leia isn’t one to back down from a fight, so when having her face off against her opponents, you can squeeze her legs together to see her arm lift up and aim her blaster.
My favorite thing about this figure is her vest, and for those of you who want a Hoth vest of your own, keep a close eye on Her Universe. The brand announced at D23 that they’ll be releasing their own version of the vest, so you’ll be able to match with your Forces of Destiny figure in the near future.
Forces of Destiny Endor Adventure
Princess Leia Organa is a bold leader of the Rebel Alliance. During a mission on Endor, she meets Wicket the Ewok. Their friendship leads to victory as the Rebels and Ewoks join forces against the evil Empire! Imagine epic adventures defending against the Empire among the giant trees of the forest moon of Endor with these Star Wars Forces of Destiny adventure figures.
The Princess Leia figure features her braided hairstyle as seen in Return of the Jedi as well as not one but two removable outfits.
When she’s off to take care of business, you can dress her up in her removable green poncho, helmet, pants, and boots.
Once she’s back with Wicket and the other Ewoks, change her into the dress they gifted to her (as seen in the Forces of Destiny short, “Ewok Escape“) as well as the matching shoes.
Leia also comes with the adorable and flocked Wicket, who has a few accessories of his own, including a bow, arrow, and spear.
I love this figure for the variety of accessories that comes with it. I have to admit that I had some difficulty when it came to changing her into the dress. I popped off her hands to make it easier to slip her sleeves on, but it was still a challenge. That said, it’s great that she comes with two outfits, especially since that allows children to expand their imagination.
Many thanks to Hasbro’s PR team for sending TWG this promotional box. Although these actions figures are aimed at the younger audience, they are also for adults who are kids at heart and who haven’t lost their sense of imagination, especially when it comes to dreaming up stories from a galaxy far, far away.
