Star Wars Rebels returns for its fourth and final season on Monday, October 16, with the one-hour episode “Heroes of Mandalore: Parts 1 and 2.”
In the premiere, Sabine leads Ezra and Kanan as well as her mother, brother, and an army of Mandalorians to Mandalore, where her father is being kept in the clutches of the Empire. Along the way, she discovers that the Empire has resurrected a devastating weapon and it puts her and her fellow Mandalorians in jeopardy. In the end, she must decide whether to destroy the weapon or use it herself.
New Clips and Promos
Since the first two episodes of season four focus more on Sabine and her return to Mandalore, Disney XD prepared a 1-minute character spotlight for those who need to re-familiarize themselves with Sabine’s character and her journey over the seasons. You can find the video on Facebook and Twitter.
A new Disney XD promotional video that was released on Twitter gives fans some new footage from the premiere as well as what’s to come later in the season.
IGN released an exclusive clip from “Heroes of Mandalore: Part 1.” In it, we see the return of Bo-Katan Kryze (voiced by Katee Sackhoff), a former Death Watch member and the sister of Duchess Satine Kryze.
Fenn Rau explains what happened years ago and how Bo-Katan was appointed regent by the Jedi before the end of the Clone War. We saw hints of this in some of the art Dave Filoni had released when Star Wars: The Clone Wars came to an end. To many, she is the rightful ruler of Mandalore. Ezra is always our eyes and ears in the show, and being that none of this is familiar to him, he’s correct in asking, “What happened?” This gives Bo-Katan the opportunity to speak for herself and inform them of what happened after the Clone War.
What strikes me most is that she says, “I had my chance to rule and I failed.” Then, she adds, “I am not my sister.” I get the impression here that while she believes she failed, she didn’t think her sister failed Mandalore. That moment stood out to me because she and her sister had different beliefs and methods on how to rule Mandalore, but Bo-Katan doesn’t put Satine in the same category as herself. That speaks volumes of her character and how even though she and her sister didn’t exactly see eye-to-eye, she didn’t see Satine as a failure.
Yahoo! Entertainment also unveiled a new clip from “Heroes of Mandalore: Part 2.”
Sabine and the others find safety from the Empire, but the Mandalorians under Bo-Katan’s command don’t accept her with open arms. After all, she created a weapon that put her fellow Mandalorians in danger. While Sabine presented a good argument, it was Bo-Katan’s word and support that allowed them to pass unharmed. Although she thinks herself incapable of leading, Bo-Katan definitely possesses the skill and experience of a ruler.
