‘Star Wars Rebels’ Meets ‘Star Wars Adventures’ in Issue #7

Star Wars Adventures is an ongoing comic book series from IDW Publishing. So far, the series has touched on small stories from across the saga, and while the content is aimed at younger audiences, the series is meant to be enjoyed by fans of all ages.

The storyteller behind each comic is Emil Graf, a new character who was created for the series. Emil is the grandson of Milo Graf from Star Wars: Adventures in Wild Space, a series of novels written by Cavan Scott.

Issue #7 is going to be written by Sholly Fisch (Batman, Teen Titans, Scooby-Doo) and drawn by Sean Galloway (Harley Quinn and the Suicide Squad, Ghostbusters).

Here’s the summary:

The Empire has taken a sacred bird that is central to an important planet’s belief system. It’s up to the rebel crew of the Ghost to retrieve the creature, but little do they know it is also sought by pirate Hondo Ohnaka!

The issue will feature three covers:

  • Sean Galloway (left)
  • Jamal Peppers (not available yet)
  • Derek Laufman (right)

The story appears to take place at some point before season three, given Ezra’s hair and clothes as seen on Galloway’s cover. It’s also interesting to note that Hondo is wearing his Star Wars: The Clone Wars attire and not his Star Wars Rebels look. I also like the detail of the sacred bird’s tail gently sitting on Ezra’s shoulder. Since Ezra has the skill to connect with other living beings, it’ll be fun to see how Ezra handles the situation, especially with Hondo around.

Later in the summer, on June 19, the comic will be released in Volume 3: Endangered.

Here’s hoping more Star Wars Rebels adventures appear in the near future! For now, take a look at these work-in-progress shots from Sean Galloway’s Twitter.
