If you’ve been collecting The Black Series action figures of your favorite Star Wars Rebels characters and requesting that Hasbro make the rest of the Ghost crew, then you’re a few steps closer to completing your collection.
Action figures of Ezra Bridger and Chopper were unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con this year, and we could not be more excited!
The upcoming 6-inch Ezra figure will have his season one/two look. Meanwhile, there are no figures of an Ezra in his season three/four outfit. The decision to go with his younger look came from the need to match him with the other season one/two outfits of the previously released characters: Kanan Jarrus, Sabine Wren, and Hera Syndulla.
Steve Evans, design director for Star Wars toys at Hasbro, did say at the Hasbro panel, however, “We’ll be keeping with the long hair first.” The word “first” implies that there could be a future figure with his updated short-haired look.
Ezra is also one the many new figures who’ll be released with an additional feature.
“Our sculpting team was able to implement this on a number of figures,” said Steve Bono, Hasbro’s senior design manager. “[Ezra] has a three-ball-jointed neck, so you get a little extra articulation and some nice subtle posing for the neck and the head.”
And of course, where would the crew be without Chopper?
“Chopper. He’s complex, so we’ve got a lot of articulation here that’s really interesting and fun,” said Bono.
“The arms in his head fold up into the dome of his head and are hidden when he’s compact like that. The head is fully articulated. The little arm in the front pops out. All the legs have functional wheels, and then, that center wheel pops out to insert the thrusters. The thruster can be removed from the base, but if you want to pose him out flying on the base, then we provide the base as well.”
Both figures are expected to turn up in 2019.
As for Zeb, no details were given away at the panel, but since they did mention the fact that fans desperately want to complete their Star Wars Rebels 6-inch collections, there’s no doubt that he will come up at some point in the near future.
TWG will keep a close eye on upcoming conventions for more announcements.
